Open and Distance Learning (ODL):
Workshop for Postgraduate Education in Agriculture

The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), the International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics (ICRISAT), and the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) organized the first formal client consultation meeting for this CGIAR Initiative. Approximately, 20 department heads of traditional and open universities and other potential partners attended this 1-day meeting.

The objectives of this meeting were:

1. To assess the need for distant learning postgraduate agriculture education;
2. To develop partnership with national and regional institutions; and
3. To identify strengths and weaknesses in the current postgraduate agricultural education
